The Milgauss is capable of withstanding magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss. The name Milgauss is taken from the French word ‘mille’ which means one-thousand, and ‘gauss,’ the unit of a magnetic field. The precision & reliability of a standard mechanical watch can be affected by a magnetic field ranging from 50 to 100 gauss.
